During a conversation with American conservative talk show host Tucker Carlson, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his belief that the West must recognize the futility of trying to subdue Russia in Ukraine.

This marked a significant occasion as it was the first one-on-one interview between a Western media representative and the Russian president since 2019. Given Carlson’s close ties to former president and current White House candidate Donald Trump, the discussion was highly anticipated.

Defending his controversial decision to invade Ukraine , Putin declared that the West’s history of betrayal had left him with no choice. Despite European and NATO efforts to assist Ukraine, Putin asserted that Russia would not be defeated. He also directed a message towards the US Congress, specifically targeting the Republican party under Trump’s leadership.

With mounting reluctance to continue supporting Ukraine with military aid, Putin bluntly stated, “If you truly want to end the fighting, you must put an end to arming them.”

When questioned about the possibility of a Russian invasion of NATO members Poland and Latvia, or any other country in Europe, the official emphasized that such aggression would only occur in response to an attack from those nations.

He assured that Russia has no desire for expansion and holds no interest in intervening in the affairs of these nations. The suggestion of threats and invasion is simply unfounded fearmongering.

After the US election, Putin made it clear that he expected minimal change in leadership. He stated, “It’s not about the leader or the personality of one individual.” Despite his defeat to Biden, Trump has continuously praised Putin, failing to denounce the invasion of Ukraine.

He even claimed that if re-elected, he could solve the war in 24 hours, without specifying how ?. In this contrast, Biden has referred to Putin as a war criminal and has made it a priority to support Ukraine’s democratically elected pro-Western government.
